Not all of us have the opportunity to visit an aquarium, let alone the ocean! We may be busy with work, school or family. Health-related issues could be us holding us back. Some aquariums are taking it upon themselves to visit people who wouldn’t normally have the chance to experience the thrills of marine life.
The Aquarium of the Pacific, for example, is collaborating with Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach. This wonderful collaboration will bring the ocean to hospitalized children and their families. Not only are the visits educational, they will also be therapeutic, helping families forget about sickness for a little bit. There will be mascots, discussions, videos and much more.
Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach is one of the best children’s hospitals in California, helping more than 10,000 children each year. Using art and science, the Aquarium of the Pacific is committed to promoting conservation and exploring sustainable solutions for many of the environmental problems we face today. They seem to make a good pair!
Aquariums are educational pillars of society, providing people of all ages with completely new worlds to discover, explore and enjoy. If you do not have one in your community, consider purchasing your own personal one and turning your home into an educational pillar!
