Aquarium maintenance is definitely not the most fun part of having an aquarium. We like adding new cool fish and plants and just enjoying the way they look. But, everything comes with responsibility, especially when we have living things in our homes.
So, to make maintenance both easier and more effective, use a gravel vacuum. I can’t see any reason why your would not have one. Once you know how to use them, they are super easy and make cleaning so much easier. In fact, they make spot cleaning possible, so if you see any areas with excess debris, you can start up the vacuum (which uses gravity and natural forces, as opposed to cyclones and the like in your carpet vacuums) and clean up the spot nice and quickly.
Keep in mind, compared to other cleaning options, gravel vacuums actually remove more than just the visible debris and waste from your aquarium. They also remove harmful gases that get stuck on the bottom of your tanks. You wouldn’t hesitate to get the radon or carbon monoxide out of your home, so get similar gases out of your tank so that your animals can thrive longer.
